vernissage: 25 of March at 19:30 hours
the exhibition will be open until 7th May

Between 5-9 of April the gallery will be closed.

Models in Łukasz Wierzbowski’s, photographs captured in "unnatural" poses, with faces hidden behind veils of hair, kneeling and twisted - though beautiful, they look disturbing. At first you get the feeling that something is wrong, that they do not look to be at ease. They give an impression of women under the weather. This automatic reaction is followed by another reflection. It is our cognitive apparatus that has been unexpectedly knocked out from the mechanical perception of the image of an attractive model in an interesting location. In this case, it is modelling against the rules of modelling and photographic capturing of moments between the modelling sequences that produces the effect of anxiety. For avoiding photographing the faces, the location becomes equivalent to the model's body, the interaction with the carefully selected environment is enhanced. At times these are just catalogue scenic places, at other times empty buildings - like the former social aid home located near the cemetery where victims of Nazi experiments were buried.
The exhibition of photographs by Łukasz Wierzbowski (a.k.a. neon.tambourine) is first in the Flickr Artists series initiated by Gallery Nizio.
